Scrap metal acceptance is regulated by strict safety requirements, environmental standards, and actual recycling capabilities. The mere presence of metal does not guarantee acceptance - the condition of the material, its origin, and the possibility of safe processing are decisive factors.
Scrap metal accepted for recycling
- Old household appliances. Gas and electric stoves, as well as older-generation refrigerators, are accepted if they contain a significant amount of metal. The primary value lies in ferrous metal, along with certain components made of non-ferrous metals. A mandatory condition is the absence of hazardous substances.
- Construction and demolition metal. Pipes, reinforcement bars, sheet metal, metal profiles, and remnants of metal structures from construction or demolition works are accepted. The metal should be cleaned as much as possible of concrete, plastic, insulation, and other non-metallic impurities.
- Worn batteries and accumulators. This category is subject to increased requirements. Only batteries with intact casings and no leaks are accepted due to environmental and safety risks.
- Metal tanks and containers. These are accepted exclusively after complete cleaning - without liquid residues and without traces of hazardous substances. Uncleaned or sealed containers are not accepted.
Scrap metal that is not accepted
Although certain items may contain metal, not all of them are eligible for acceptance. Rejection is usually related not to the type of metal, but to its condition, level of contamination, or potential risks during recycling.
- Metal structures and items with a high content of non-metallic materials such as concrete, plastic, rubber, or wood, if their separation is technically difficult or economically unjustified.
Therefore, scrap metal should be regarded as industrial raw material that requires proper preparation. Understanding acceptance requirements helps avoid refusals, reduce delivery time, and ensure safe and efficient recycling.
